The role
As a Driver you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Help us make a difference and support the UK Military and Aviation. The Mechanical Transport Department supplies transportation solutions to Royal Air Force (RAF) Northolt on a daily 24/7/365 days a year basis.
Day-to-day you’ll be responsible for cover base duty vehicle driver requirements, including transporting RAF personnel which also includes coach driving.
- Carrying out VIP driving duties and checking vehicles daily/weekly in line with vehicle specifications and requirements.
- Seasonal snow and ice clearance in large LGV platforms, to allow critical flying to remain active.
- Ensuring that all transport services driver and vehicle documentation is completed relevant publications. Completion and maintenance of driver analogue tachograph discs and driver digital cards.
- Reporting all vehicle defects to Control Staff in accordance with legislation and service publications.
- Refuelling, washing, vacuuming, checking of vehicle fluids and tyre condition of all vehicles as required.
This role is full time and based onsite at RAF Northolt, near Ruislip. You\'ll work an average of 38.5 hours a week on a shift basis (12hr rotational flexible shift basis, days and nights), however you\'ll need to be flexible as there may be changes to the roster from time to time, to meet customer needs.
Essential experience of the Driver
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Previous experience within driving stakeholders and maintaining all required paperwork essential to hold Driver Vehicle Standard Authority (DVSA) Category D Licence with no more than three current Penalty Points.
- Hold full clean driving license with categories B, C, and D.
Qualifications for the Driver
- You must pass a Colour Perception test for aerodrome access and should be colour perception (CP) standard of Red Green CP2 (safe) or CP3 (defective/safe).
- Driver qualification card CPC, LGV and PSV.
- ADR class 1 and 3 desirables.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain UK - Security Check(SC) security clearance for this role.
