At Babcock we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Mechanical Design Engineer for our Engineering & Systems Integration business.
The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be responsible for developing, designing, and implementing new vehicle design solutions from concept through to production.
Day-to-day, you’ll deliver accurate timely and efficient designs to meet the defined requirements.
- CAD Modelling of vehicle components and systems using 2D and 3D software
- Developing physical and virtual prototypes to test and refine ideas and concepts
- Choose appropriate materials and manufacturing methods to ensure design feasibility.
- Conduct simulations and analyses to evaluate design performance
- Maintain detailed records of design specifications
This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and can be based out of Bristol, Walsall or Plymouth (other locations also considered)
Experience required of the Mechanical Design Engineer
- Proficiency in CAD software, preferably SolidWorks
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical system design
- Strong understanding of design principles, materials and manufacturing techniques
- Knowledge of indsutry specific standards prefered but not essential
- Experience in vehicle design engineering or other similar field
Qualifications for the Mechanical Design Engineer
- Degree level qualified in relevant engineering subject (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace etc)
