The role:
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a vital role in developing innovative electrical solutions that support complex marine engineering projects. You will use your technical expertise to help ensure that our designs meet the highest standards of safety, reliability and performance – directly contributing to national security and critical infrastructure. This is a meaningful opportunity to grow your engineering career while working on projects that truly matter.
Day-to-day, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Produce and develop CAD 3D models and drawings across all design lifecycle stages, ensuring quality and compliance with ISO standards.
- Create CAD 2D installation and fabrication drawings, including single line diagrams, equipment layouts and schedules.
- Liaise with colleagues and stakeholders to maintain coordination, manage interfaces and support effective design reviews.
- Develop innovative design solutions that improve efficiency, safety and performance.
- Provide technical support by resolving manufacturing and installation queries throughout project delivery.
This is a full time role, working 37 hours per week, based at Rosyth, Bristol or Devonport. Hybrid working patterns are available.
Essential experience of the Electrical Design Engineer:
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical design and manufacturing outputs.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D/3D software.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within project teams.
- Experience in resolving technical and production queries.
- Knowledge of marine or commercial electrical systems (advantageous).
Qualifications for the Electrical Design Engineer:
- Minimum HNC or equivalent experience in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D/3D; familiarity with CMPic is desirable.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
- Understanding of ISO standards and design lifecycle processes.
- Knowledge of commercial and marine electrical detail design and manufacturing requirements.
