The role:
As an Assistant Buyer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be part of a dynamic, diverse, and inclusive team, providing specialist knowledge across innovative products, technologies, and solutions. You’ll play a vital role in supporting both internal and external customers, ensuring efficiency and excellence in purchasing processes.
Day-to-day, you’ll support our Buying team in handling the transactional aspects of Purchasing & Supply Chain activities, including:
- Raising purchase orders
- Managing order books
- Expediting transactions
- Maintaining supplier records
- Assisting with basic Request for Quotation (RFQ) activities
Additionally, you will:
- Manage requisition-to-order processes within agreed service levels, up to a value of £2M.
- Support Buyers in securing Babcock’s commercial interests through effective use of contracts and purchase orders.
- Assist Buyers in financial processes, ensuring timely payments to suppliers.
- Help with supplier onboarding and qualification, ensuring selected suppliers meet approval requirements and are ready to trade.
- Ensure technical and quality requirements are fully satisfied, with all materials and services supplied in accordance with specifications.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience:
- Basic knowledge of current operational procurement techniques
- Basic knowledge of ERP systems for example, IFS, SAP, Oracle.
Qualifications:
- Qualified to NQ level or equivalent through work experience
- Willingness to study towards MCIPS or equivalent professional qualifications
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
