At Cavendish Nuclear we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Work Pack Engineer supporting Hinkley Point C new nuclear build. This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance works across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main MEH, cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station’s 2,500 rooms.
The role:
- Design Coordination & Risk Management: Liaise with clients and leads to define design requirements and assign appropriate Temporary Works (TW) Design Categories based on risk assessments.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure adherence to legacy documentation and maintain accurate records of drawings, calculations, and other TW design documents.
- Temporary Works Development: Support the growth of TW disciplines, including voids, openings, and scaffolding designs to meet operational needs.
- Design Verification & Communication: Facilitate design checks (CAT 2 and CAT 3) by independent parties and share designs with relevant external stakeholders.
- Execution Support: Assist the execution team before and during the erection of bespoke structures, ensuring safe and effective implementation of designs.
This is a full-time role, 37 hours per week based within the EDF Energy offices in Sunderland. You will be required to visit site initially for a 4-week induction period and then periodic site visits thereafter. All expenses will be paid including accommodation.
Essential experience of the Work Pack Engineer:
- Experience of working on major construction projects.
- Nuclear site experience is not a requirement.
- Proven track record of working in a highly regulated sector.
- Previous experience within a role relating to Mechanical or Piping Work Packs.

Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
