The role

As a Rail Track Assistant, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will assist with carrying out track renewal work as directed by the Senior Track Assistant / Manager.

Day-to-day, you will assist with all auxiliary works associated with track renewals these will include but not limited to, taking delivery of materials, delivering materials to site, follow up works associated with a core renewal.

You will also:

  • Assist in the Track Renewals work
  • Assist with auxiliary duties as required
  • Take instructions and follow them in a safe manner
  • Support the wider team
  • Be able to work outside in all weather conditions

This role is full time working 35 hours per week and is based on site at Cadder Yard, Glasgow. Working hours will predominately be nights and weekends but could include day shifts and late shifts.

Essential experience of the Rail Track Assistant

  • Ability to drive or have willingness to learn
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work as a team player
  • Ability to take instructions and follow them
  • Health and safety conscious
  • Proven experience on railway infrastructure is desirable
  • No previous railway experience necessary as training will be provided
