Lead the future of submarine engineering capability. At Babcock we're working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Technical Competence Manager at our HMNB Clyde Faslane site.
The role:
- Hold strategic accountability for technical competence across Fleet Engineering.
- Lead the delivery of a competency based training and assurance framework, ensuring technical staff are trained, assessed and verified against defined standards.
- Manage and develop the technical competence and training team across multiple engineering trades.
- Analyse training needs and competence gaps through risk based reviews, job and task analysis.
- Develop and assure technical training plans, learning materials and competence records in line with regulatory and quality standards.
- Engage with senior leaders, auditors, suppliers and partners to support assurance activities and the transition to new technologies.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week, based at HMNB Clyde Faslane site. Hybrid working patterns are available, though regular on site presence is expected, particularly during your first year.
Essential experience:
- Proven experience designing and leading competency based training and assurance frameworks in a safety critical engineering environment.
- Experience managing technical training or competence teams across multi discipline workforces.
- Strong capability in training needs analysis, job and task analysis, and risk based gap assessment.
- Experience developing auditable competence management systems and technical training materials.
- A track record of influencing senior stakeholders and working across functions to deliver sustainable training solutions.
Qualifications:
- Recognised training delivery qualification and competence assessor and verifier qualifications.
- ILM Level 5 (or equivalent) in leadership or management.
- A relevant engineering or trade qualification, with experience in a regulated or safety critical environment.
- Knowledge of quality, safety and regulatory standards (nuclear or equivalent highly regulated sectors advantageous).
Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
