The role

As a Project Controls Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll take a leading role in delivering complex marine defence programmes that safeguard national capability. You'll guide decision-making through data-led insight, ensuring performance, cost, and risk are effectively managed across the full project lifecycle.

Day-to-day, you'll be required to:

  • Lead and develop an integrated project controls function across planning, cost, risk, and change
  • Own end-to-end project controls delivery, including governance, performance management, and reporting
  • Drive data-led insights by analysing trends, identifying risks, and enabling informed decision-making
  • Deliver dashboards, reports, and key performance indicators aligned with business and contractual requirements
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to maintain alignment across the project lifecycle

This is a full-time role working 35 hours per week, based at Devonport Dockyard. Hybrid working patterns are available.

Essential experience of the Project Controls Manager:

  • Experience working across one or more project controls disciplines
  • Broad understanding of project controls including cost management, scheduling, risk, change, and estimating
  • Proven ability to lead or influence teams within complex project environments
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and communicate clear insights
  • Experience supporting performance management in large-scale projects or programmes

Qualifications for the Project Controls Manager:

  • APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ)
  • APMG Project Planning and Control (PPC) certification
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience (desirable)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
