At Babcock we're working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Principal Independent Peer Review Assessor at our Devonport site.
The role involves:
- Conducting Independent Peer Review of safety documents and policy, methodology, strategy and guidance documents.
- Presenting findings of Peer Review to the members of the Nuclear Safety Committee.
- Managing the conduct of consultants sub-contracted for external Peer Review as lead assessor.
- Assisting in formulating IPR strategy and policy to address emergent issues.
- Preparing Peer Review reports to the required standards and timescales.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with typically 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.
Essential experience includes:
- General experience of safety related engineering in a high hazard industry.
- Significant experience in the conduct of safety analysis, ideally in a through life support environment.
- Experience in the development, management and analysis of fault schedules.
- Experience of authoring safety case claims, arguments and evidence.
- A thorough understanding of Naval Base infrastructure and submarine engineering would be advantageous.
Qualifications include:
- Degree in an appropriate Scientific or Engineering discipline.
- Chartered accreditation by an appropriate Professional Institution.
- NUC0793 Nuclear Plant Foundation Course Module 1 (or equivalent).
- NUC0794 Nuclear Fundamentals (Foundation) Course Module 2 (or equivalent).
- NUC0911 Introduction to Safety Engineering (Babcock are happy to put you through this).
Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
