The role
As a Senior Design Change Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary—supporting the Royal Navy’s next-generation warships by leading the design change process from concept to installation.

Day-to-day, you’ll:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to plan, mature, and deliver design changes for Royal Navy warships.
  • Lead technical governance activities including requirement management, gate reviews, and design reviews.
  • Capture and monitor technical requirements for each design change task.
  • Conduct investigations and analysis to support problem resolution and design enhancements.
  • Ensure supportability is embedded in all design changes, aligning with the Common Support Model (CSM) and Warship Technical Authority (WTA) responsibilities.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Senior Design Change Engineer

  • Skilled in end-to-end engineering design change processes for complex assets.
  • Proficient in managing requirements, conducting design reviews, and verifying design change installations.
  • Collaborative experience in delivering through-life support for complex systems.
  • Strong capability in producing high-quality technical documentation and reports.
  • Practical application of project management methodologies to technical programmes.

Qualifications for the Senior Design Change Engineer

  • Hold an engineering or science qualification, preferably a bachelor\’s degree, with proven experience in the relevant technical discipline.
  • Professionally registered Engineer (IEng or CEng) with a recognized institution (e.g. IET, IMechE), or actively working towards registration through CPD (Desirable)

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
