As an Electromechanical Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to work on complex military platforms and critical defence equipment, combining mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering expertise to solve real-world challenges. This is a varied and hands-on engineering role where you'll investigate faults, develop innovative design modifications, support testing and certification activities, and provide technical expertise across a range of integrated electromechanical systems. Your work will directly contribute to improving equipment performance, reliability, safety, and operational capability. Working throughout the equipment lifecycle, you'll collaborate with a wide range of engineering specialists and stakeholders while building your expertise within one of the UK's leading defence organisations. Day-to-day, you will be:
- Investigating faults and carrying out root cause analysis across complex electromechanical systems
- Developing engineering solutions and design modifications to improve performance and reliability
- Supporting testing, validation, certification, and integration activities
- Producing technical documentation, specifications, drawings, reports, and engineering outputs
- Providing technical expertise and support throughout the equipment lifecycle.
This is a full-time role, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based in Bristol. Hybrid working arrangements are available, with frequent travel to other Babcock sites as required.
Qualifications
- Experience working with electromechanical systems across design, integration, modification, and support activities
- Strong automotive electrical systems experience, including vehicle wiring, harnesses, power distribution, and fault diagnosis
- Proven fault-finding and root cause analysis capabilities
- Experience producing engineering designs and technical documentation
- Ability to develop practical engineering solutions to complex technical challenges.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent
- Chartered Engineer, Incorporated Engineer status, or working towards professional registration.
Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
