The role: As a Photographer, you'll join a small, dedicated team supporting the HADES contract at RAF Shawbury. This is a unique opportunity to combine your creative talent with meaningful work, capturing and producing visual content that documents life across the Royal Air Force. From major ceremonial events and graduations to official photography, PR imagery and technical photography, your work will play an important role in preserving and communicating the RAF story. You'll also manage digital media, maintain image libraries and ensure all photographic output meets professional standards.

Day-to-day, you will be:

  • Capturing photography and videography at graduations, ceremonial events, engineering activities and other key occasions.
  • Managing image libraries, archives and content management systems while maintaining accurate metadata and captions.
  • Editing, reviewing and publishing high-quality digital media content to professional standards.
  • Producing official, VIP, PR and technical photography, alongside scanning and copying existing media.
  • Maintaining photographic equipment and ensuring all media handling complies with relevant procedures and regulations.

This is a part-time, onsite role based at RAF Shawbury, working 16 hours per week (Thursday and Friday) with flexibility to provide holiday cover when required.

Essential experience of the Photographer:

  • Demonstrating excellent planning, organisational and communication skills.
  • Working effectively both independently and as part of a small team.
  • Delivering excellent customer service and building positive working relationships.
  • Applying strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Using current software packages confidently and maintaining flexibility in working patterns when required.

Qualifications for the Photographer:

  • NCF/BTEC Level 5 qualification, or equivalent experience, in Photography, Media or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience creating engaging digital content and imagery.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance.
  • Knowledge of AP 112P-0009-1 (Manual of Photographic Practices and Procedures) would be advantageous.

Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
