At Babcock we are working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part on a 2-year secondment to Connecticut USA for our Devonport Royal Dockyard Limited.
The role involves coordinating the support solution for the Dreadnought platform across multiple US sites, ensuring a seamless transition into service, reinforcing the UK’s Continuous at Sea Deterrent and driving operational excellence.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Leading the delivery of the Dreadnought Common Missile Compartment (CMC) scope of work.
- Overseeing the transition from the Dreadnought build phase to operational readiness.
- Ensuring proactive risk management and clear communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Acting as an authorised MoD proxy at US/UK meetings and reviews.
- Adapting US documentation, policies, and processes for UK execution.
- Assisting in developing maintenance procedures and technical documentation.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week. You will be seconded for two years to Connecticut, US with occasional travel to Florida and Washington D.C. Upon completion of the secondment, you will then be based at one of our sites in either Devonport, Bristol or Clyde.
Essential experience:
- Strong understanding of Strategic Weapons Systems (SWS/SWSS) and the organisations that ensure its effective maintenance and operational readiness.
- Knowledgeable of the UK submarine enterprise and in-service support processes.
- Experienced in complex engineering programmes and projects, with experience in life cycle management between concept to operational deployment.
- Familiar with Ministry of Defence (MoD) and US NAVSEA Standards and other compliance and implementation technical documentation.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications:
- HND or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Marine, Systems, Data Management, or Mathematics. Relevant experience or certifications may be accepted in place of formal education.
- Actively pursuing or holding Professional Registration, with commitment to continuous development towards chartered or incorporated engineer status.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
