The role
As a Senior Structures Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of supporting the Royal Navy Submarine Fleet through innovative structural design and engineering solutions. This is your chance to work on complex, high-impact projects that safeguard national security while advancing your career in a dynamic and rewarding environment.
Day-to-day, you’ll lead the development of section capabilities within the Structures team while providing technical support across the wider business. You’ll take ownership of directing technical outputs, coordinating activity and collaborating with multi‑disciplinary teams. Your work will span a diverse range of projects on complex assets, which may include:
- Directing technical outputs and coordinating multidisciplinary activities.
- Performing structural assessments using hand calculations and finite element analysis.
- Designing for explosive shock survivability and managing structural defects.
- Driving capability upgrades and supporting future platform projects.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Senior Structures Engineer
- Proven experience in structural analysis and design.
- Strong project management and communication skills.
- Excellent organisational ability to deliver in complex environments.
- Collaborative approach with the ability to influence at all levels.
Qualifications for the Senior Structures Engineer
- Degree in a STEM discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or ability to demonstrate required competencies) with full membership of a relevant engineering institute.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
