Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of major mechanical handling, crane, dockside infrastructure and multidisciplinary engineering work packages from concept through to handover.
- Manage technical requirements and review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and design documentation to ensure high‑quality project delivery.
- Design and integrate crane protection systems, mechanical handling equipment, access control solutions and infrastructure improvements.
- Coordinate with construction, civil, mechanical, electrical and control system stakeholders to manage complex engineering interfaces.
- Mentor engineers and designers while driving safety, quality, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement across projects.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience leading complex engineering projects involving cranes and mechanical handling systems or mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
- Experience managing crane safety, lifting equipment, protection systems and mechanical handling solutions within regulated environments such as defence, nuclear, marine, heavy engineering or critical infrastructure.
- Experience delivering multidisciplinary design projects and managing interfaces across mechanical, electrical, controls and civil engineering disciplines.
- Experience overseeing design assurance, technical reviews, safety management and engineering governance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Chartered Engineer status is desirable.
- Membership of a relevant professional institution is desirable.
- Significant engineering experience with the capability to achieve Engineering Council registration at Chartered Engineer level is desirable.
- Security Clearance – The successful candidate must be a sole UK national able to achieve and maintain a Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
