The role:
As a Senior Electrical Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll play a vital leadership role in delivering high‑integrity engineering solutions within highly regulated, safety‑critical nuclear environments. Your expertise will directly support safe plant operations, regulatory compliance, and long‑term infrastructure resilience.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Deliver electrical, control and instrumentation engineering solutions across complex nuclear and defence projects
- Produce high‑quality EC&I deliverables including control philosophies, requirements specifications, interlock definitions and software management plans
- Manage engineers and designers to ensure accurate, compliant and timely production of technical outputs
- Support hazard studies, design risk assessments and regulatory assurance activities
- Work closely with project managers, safety teams, customers and supply chain partners to integrate solutions successfully
This is a full‑time role working 37 hours per week, based at any of our main Cavendish locations including Glasgow, Leicester, Bristol, Newbury, Warrington. Hybrid working patterns are available, with a minimum of working 3 days on site.
Essential experience of the Senior EC&I Engineer:
- Strong experience delivering EC&I engineering within regulated or safety‑critical environments
- Proven background working with control systems, automation or instrumentation solutions
- Experience supporting nuclear, defence, energy or comparable highly regulated industries
- Ability to manage technical deliverables and support multidisciplinary project teams
- Clear understanding of safety, quality and compliance obligations
Qualifications for the Senior EC&I Engineer:
- Degree‑qualified in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering or a related discipline
- Chartered Engineer status or progress toward professional registration is advantageous
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
