As a Production Support Operative, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Join our team at Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth, working across various business units. Play a crucial role in supporting complex engineering projects, from Warships and Submarines to Factory operations, ensuring smooth and efficient delivery.
Day‑to‑day, you'll contribute to maintenance, installation, and equipment testing across warships, submarines, and factory settings at Devonport Dockyard. Working closely with Electrical Fitters to ensure the smooth execution of complex engineering projects.
- Assist experienced Electrical Fitters with pre‑heat requirements for welding and temporary electrical supplies.
- Support equipment installation and maintenance, including system functional tests and monitoring duties.
This role is full time 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience:
- Ability to read engineering drawings, interpret work instructions, and use workshop tools, including those specific to electrical engineering.
- Marine engineering experience preferred, including work on Royal Navy ships, submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels, or large commercial ships – other relevant engineering experience considered.
- Experience working in a Naval Base environment – desirable.
Qualifications:
- Full UK driving licence is a requirement of this role.
- HS0003 Hot Work Operators / Sentries – desirable.
- HS0384 Practical Fire Training – desirable.
- NUC1119 Entry to Radiological Area – desirable.
Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
