As a Mechanical or Chemical Engineer, you will be part of our Nuclear Engineering Group, a Technical Authority within Babcock's Devonport Naval Nuclear sector. You will contribute to the design, modification, and through-life support of fixed, portable, and temporary pressure systems and associated equipment that provide critical submarine interfaces and support activities including system testing and commissioning, temperature and chemistry control, and radioactive waste receipt, storage, treatment, and disposal.
Day-to-day, you will author design documentation, produce Computer-Aided Design (CAD) models and drawings, undertake engineering analyses, and provide technical advice to ensure compliance with nuclear regulations and pressure system standards. You will work in an agile, collaborative environment that supports career progression and professional development.
Responsibilities- Lead or work within a team of engineers to plan, organise and deliver design tasks.
- Develop and deliver designs through all lifecycle phases in line with legislation.
- Problem-solve and provide technical solutions to emergent operational issues.
- Perform and lead quality checks on engineering outputs.
- Experience in mechanical, chemical or process engineering.
- Experience working in a highly regulated industry.
- Knowledge of piping/pressure systems and components.
- Knowledge of engineering regulations and standards.
- Understanding of the full design lifecycle.
- Experience in CAD, component engineering simulation, system fluid-flow analysis or nuclear plant design is advantageous.
- Minimum HNC in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Degree qualified and professionally registered with a relevant engineering institution preferred for more senior positions.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
