As a Mechanical Designer, you'll help deliver innovative engineering solutions that support the UK's clean energy ambitions, national security, and major nuclear programmes. You'll contribute to complex, high-impact design projects throughout the full design lifecycle - from concept development to final in-service support. It's a role where your technical expertise, creativity and problem-solving will directly influence project success, while supporting your professional growth in one of the most advanced engineering environments in the UK.
Responsibilities
- Produce high-quality engineering drawings throughout the design lifecycle in line with ISO standards.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, production and project teams to ensure alignment and design integrity.
- Maintain design and project documentation, including updates to 'as-built' and datum packs.
- Support design reviews, resolve technical queries, and contribute to innovative engineering solutions.
- Assist senior designers with estimates, continuous improvement initiatives and project support tasks.
This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based at Warrington or Preston, with flexible working arrangements available.
Qualifications
- Understanding of general engineering drawing practice.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on accuracy and detail.
- ONC / HNC / HND or BTEC National Certificate / Diploma (or equivalent), or a relevant engineering apprenticeship in mechanical or design disciplines.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
