The role involves providing professional pool supervision and life-saving cover, supporting military training activities while ensuring the highest standards of safety. Day-to-day, you will be:

  • Monitoring the swimming pool and training activities at all times whilst on duty.
  • Carrying out poolside and changing room safety checks following swimming sessions.
  • Ensuring pool safety operating procedures are followed and maintained.
  • Attending regular training sessions to maintain operational readiness.
  • Maintaining your fitness levels and keeping your National Pool Lifeguard Qualification current.

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role. This is a permanent, zero-hours position based onsite at Bovington. Working hours are offered as required, with the role typically averaging 8–12 hours per week.

Essential experience includes:

  • Previous lifeguarding experience.
  • Confident swimming ability and the ability to pass a swimming assessment.
  • Experience working within a safety-focused environment.
  • Strong observation skills and the ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications required:

  • Current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check (EDBS) security clearance for this role.
