As a Plant Operator, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll play a key role in supporting critical defence infrastructure, working within a brand-new facility that brings together all radioactive activities across the HMNB Clyde site. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to vital operations that protect people, the environment and national security.

Day-to-day, you'll be required to:

  • Carrying out workplace radiation and contamination surveys to maintain safe operating conditions
  • Providing monitoring services for personnel, materials and radioactive waste
  • Supporting waste collection, processing, disposal and radioactive liquid handling
  • Delivering radiation protection briefings and performing decontamination activities
  • Maintaining accurate records to ensure full traceability and regulatory compliance

This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at HMNB Clyde Faslane.

Essential experience of the Plant Operator:

  • Experience in heavy plant operations, ideally within a highly regulated environment
  • Demonstrating strong understanding of safe systems of work and health and safety compliance
  • Working in confined spaces and/or at height
  • Operating as a slinger/signaller or within similar lifting operations
  • Applying practical problem-solving skills in operational environments

Qualifications for the Plant Operator:

  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Licences for diesel counterbalance vehicles (Category B2/B3) and HGV/LGV Category 2 are advantageous, but can be supported through training
  • Radiation Safety Practice NVQ Level 2 or equivalent is desirable, with training available

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
