The role
As an Explosive Handling Jetty Facility Manager, you will take ownership of the management, operation and maintenance of a highly specialised facility that plays a vital role in supporting the UK’s defence capabilities. This unique leadership opportunity requires ensuring safe, efficient and compliant operation of critical infrastructure, driving engineering support services that directly contribute to national security.
Working within our Nuclear sector, you will lead skilled teams, engage with senior stakeholders and drive operational excellence in a complex and highly regulated environment, providing a real difference while further developing your leadership, engineering and operational management expertise within one of the UK’s leading defence and engineering organisations.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities
- Leading and motivating the Explosive Handling Jetty team to deliver safe, efficient and effective operations.
- Ensuring compliance with safety, security, environmental and quality requirements across the facility.
- Acting as the Facility Operator’s representative at Nuclear Safety Committees and key stakeholder forums.
- Managing resources, equipment and operational activities to maximise facility availability and performance.
- Supporting the delivery of engineering and infrastructure services in accordance with cost, quality and time objectives.
This is a 36‑hour per week role based at HMNB Clyde and is onsite.
Essential experience
- Experience managing complex operational facilities, infrastructure or engineering environments.
- Strong knowledge of Explosive Handling Jetty operations, procedures and processes.
- Experience leading teams and managing operational performance in a regulated environment.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.
- Experience of programme management and maintenance management activities.
Qualifications
Essential
- Degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent qualification.
- Working at Heights certification.
- Confined Space Competent Person certification.
- Water Rescue Equipment Training.
- DSEAR Awareness Training for Line Managers.
Desirable
- Additional qualifications in facilities management, infrastructure operations or leadership.
- Experience within defence, nuclear, marine engineering or highly regulated industries.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
