As a Commissioning Electrical Test Engineer - Combat Systems, you will support the commissioning and testing of submarine systems, ensuring they perform safely, reliably and in line with stringent technical standards. This hands‑on engineering role places you at the heart of advanced defence platforms, allowing you to develop expertise, broaden technical understanding and make an impact.
Day to day you will:
- Execute commissioning and testing activities safely, accurately and to defined procedures.
- Produce clear and well‑structured technical documentation, including test plans, scripts and result records.
- Review and verify technical documents to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Capture and analyse test data, identify anomalies and summarise findings.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, project teams and key stakeholders to ensure tasks are delivered on time and to specification.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 07:15 – 16:45 and is based on site at HMNB Clyde Faslane.
Essential experience
- Practical electrical experience with a solid understanding of electrical systems, components and wiring practices.
- Experience completing hands‑on electrical work such as maintenance, assembly or repair.
- Ability to work systematically with strong attention to detail.
- Experience producing or maintaining accurate technical documentation.
- Confidence working within structured engineering or technical environments.
Qualifications
- Recognised Electrical or Electronic Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent vocational qualification.
- HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (training provided if required) – Desirable.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
