The role
As a Health Physics Compliance Officer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring radiological safety across nuclear-powered submarine operations and associated facilities. You’ll support the safe delivery of submarines by providing oversight, reporting, and coordination that keeps teams compliant with strict regulatory standards. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team within the submarine enterprise, where your work directly contributes to safety, operational excellence, and national defence. You’ll also gain valuable experience in a highly regulated environment, supporting your career growth in nuclear safety, compliance, and project coordination.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Produce accurate data, reports, and dashboards to demonstrate compliance with licensing and authorised conditions
- Extract, collate, and analyse project data to support governance, planning, and leadership reporting
- Support team and project activities, including resource planning, risk tracking, and issue management
- Liaise with stakeholders across site to provide updates and ensure alignment on safety and compliance matters
- Maintain high standards of data integrity and administrative control across health physics operations
Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.
This is a full-time role working 35 hours per week, based at Devonport with flexible working arrangements available. Travel to other Babcock and customer sites will be expected.
Essential experience of the Health Physics Compliance Officer
- Experience in data management, reporting, and analysis
- Strong administrative and coordination skills within a professional environment
- Proficiency in standard computer applications and systems
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks and processes
- Experience within regulated or safety-critical environments (nuclear experience is advantageous)
Qualifications for the Health Physics Compliance Officer
- NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration (or working towards)
- Experience within a Project Management Environment
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) / Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) / Confidential Atomic security clearance for this role.
