If you join us, you can play your part as the Head of Asset Management Governance and Assurance, based at either the Babcock Technology Centre in Bristol, Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth, or HM Naval Base Clyde near Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute.
The role involves providing independent oversight of Babcock’s Asset Management System, ensuring governance arrangements, assurance activities, compliance obligations and control frameworks are effective, robust and aligned to organisational objectives and ISO 55001 requirements. This is an exciting opportunity to influence strategic decision-making across a global defence, aerospace and engineering organisation while helping to ensure the long-term resilience, reliability and performance of critical assets that support national security and public infrastructure.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Operating as the organisational authority for asset management governance, compliance and assurance.
- Working with senior leaders across the business, driving best practice, strengthening governance maturity and delivering confidence that asset management decisions are effective, transparent and sustainable.
- Defining enterprise asset management governance frameworks and standards across multiple sites and business areas.
- Developing assurance strategies, audit programmes and maturity assessments to evaluate Asset Management System effectiveness.
- Monitoring compliance with regulatory, statutory and internal requirements, while identifying emerging risks and governance gaps.
- Providing independent challenge to asset plans and investment strategies, escalating significant concerns to executive leadership.
- Supporting Board governance activities and promoting continuous improvement through governance best practice and organisational learning.
This role is full time and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 – 3 days onsite at one of Babcock’s key locations: Babcock Technology Centre, Devonport Royal Dockyard or HM Naval Base Clyde, Near Helensburgh Argyll and Bute site. The successful candidate will be expected to travel regularly to the other sites to support collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery across the business.
Essential experience:
- Extensive governance, compliance or assurance leadership experience.
- Experience operating within asset-intensive and regulated environments.
- Experience developing and implementing assurance frameworks.
- Experience conducting audits, reviews and organisational maturity assessments.
- Experience influencing senior stakeholders and driving governance improvements across complex organisations.
Qualifications:
Essential: Degree in Engineering, Asset Management, Finance, Risk Management or a related discipline, or demonstrable equivalent professional experience.
Desirable: Chartered professional registration. Institute of Asset Management Diploma or equivalent qualification.
Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
