The role
As a Weapons Technician, you will join a highly skilled engineering team supporting critical defence equipment used by military and civil customers. You will play a hands-on role in maintaining and enhancing vehicles and armament systems that are essential to national security and operational readiness. This is a full-time role, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 7.00 am to 3.30 pm and Friday 7.00 am – 12.00 pm based on site at Ashchurch with overtime being available.
Day-to-day responsibilities:
- Carrying out servicing, maintenance, repair and modification of defence vehicles and armament systems
- Diagnosing faults across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems and completing effective repairs
- Conducting inspections and equipment examinations to meet production and safety requirements
- Working collaboratively with team members to deliver high-quality engineering outcomes
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with technical standards and safety procedures
Essential experience:
- Holding previous experience in a similar mechanical, armourer or technician role
- Demonstrating strong hands-on skills in maintenance and fault diagnosis
- Bringing experience in military environments or automotive/mechanical workshops (advantageous)
- Showing the ability to work effectively as part of a team and build strong working relationships
- Being able to meet requirements for Security Check clearance
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
