As a Fleet Maintenance Manager, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the operational readiness and safety of a specialist vehicle fleet supporting defence operations. Leading a skilled team of technicians, you'll oversee maintenance delivery, drive compliance, and ensure assets are available when they're needed most. This is an exciting opportunity to combine hands‑on engineering leadership with operational management in a highly regulated and purpose‑driven environment, where your work directly contributes to national security.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and managing a team of technicians to deliver servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
  • Planning and coordinating all fleet maintenance activities to maximise vehicle availability.
  • Overseeing diagnostics, fault identification, and repair decision‑making.
  • Managing workshop assets, tooling, and spare parts inventory.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Experience

  • Experience working within or alongside a military or highly regulated workshop environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HGV maintenance operations and fleet management systems.
  • Understanding of ADR regulations and specialist vehicles such as fuel bowsers.
  • Experience producing and implementing risk assessments and COSHH documentation.
  • Proven experience in procurement, supply chain processes, or local purchasing.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a Mechanical or Electrical discipline.
  • Valid UK HGV driving licence (Category C or C+E).

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions. Eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.
