The role involves providing independent assurance across safety, health and environmental compliance within our Marine business. This is a role with real influence - ensuring that legal obligations, management systems and risk controls are not just in place but working effectively in live operational environments.
Day to day you will be required to:
- Plan, deliver and report safety, health and environmental audits and inspections against UK legislation, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
- Verify the effectiveness of operational risk controls including risk assessments, permits to work and safe systems of work.
- Support and review incident investigations, applying root cause analysis and evaluating corrective and preventive actions.
- Engage with managers, operational teams and contractors to provide constructive challenge and professional assurance.
- Track and analyse actions and trends to inform management review and continuous improvement.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based at Rosyth. Hybrid working patterns are available, and there is potential for travel to other Babcock and customer sites, including occasional international travel.
Essential experience:
- Proven experience conducting and reporting safety, health and environmental audits within complex or industrial environments.
- Demonstrable knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation and compliance assurance.
- Experience reviewing operational risk controls in live working environments.
- Hands-on involvement in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Experience engaging confidently with operational teams, contractors and senior stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent recognised health and safety qualification.
- ISO 45001 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification.
- ISO 14001 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification.
- Formal incident investigation training.
- Strong working knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation.
Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
