As an Environmental Laboratory Analyst, you'll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. As part of the analytical team you will deliver efficient analytical services to customers in line with safety, quality and environmental standards. Day‑to‑day, you’ll conduct chemistry analysis on sample types based at our lab to support a range of client sites, such as Sellafield, ensuring safety, quality and environmental standards that enable site licence permits to be obtained. The role is full‑time, 37 hours a week, based at Westlakes Science Park, Whitehaven.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the delivery of assigned programmes of work to support the overall delivery of analytical results to time and quality.
- Comply with laboratory quality management systems to support accreditation.
- Comply with processes and procedures to enable safe working practices.
- Work as part of an effective team to support and coach each other to provide a consistent and efficient level of service.
- Identify and report issues to maintain and improve operational capability and level of service.
- Assist with the validation of new and existing techniques and equipment prior to use to comply with quality systems.
Qualifications and Experience
- Science A Level at grade A to C or equivalent and/or significant practical laboratory experience.
- Experience in analytical chemistry.
- Awareness of conventional and radiological safety.
- Awareness of ISO17025 standard.
Additional Requirements
- Must pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.
- Must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
