The RoleAs an Environmental Health and Safety Advisor, you\’ll be at the heart of our mission to protect people and operations across our heavy engineering and trades functions. This is a hands‐on role where your expertise will directly influence the safety culture of our Mission Systems business. You\’ll be supporting machining, welding, and assembly operations—making a real difference to our people, our customers, and the wider community.

Day‐to‐day, you\’ll be required to:

Deliver expert EHS support across complex engineering operations, offering practical, actionable advice.

Build strong relationships with stakeholders including trade unions, HR, and security to champion our \”Home Safe Every Day\” initiative.

Conduct audits and ensure compliance with ISO14001 & ISO45001 standards.

Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and driving corrective actions.

Contribute to the development of KPIs, reporting tools, procedures, and training materials.

This is a full-time, permanent position based at Devonport Dockyard. You\’ll work 37 hours per week. Hybrid working patterns are available.

Essential Experience of the Environmental Health and Safety Advisor

Proven experience in an EHS Advisor or similar role.

Conf>

Strong understanding of relevant legislation and its practical application.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and related software.

Qualifications for the Environmental Health and Safety Advisor

NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent (minimum requirement).

Grad IOSH working towards CMIOSH is advantageous.

Membership of IOSH or a related professional body.

Security ClearanceThe successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.

However, the successful candidate will be eligible to start on Standard (BPSS) security clearance but will need to obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance once in post.
