This is a career that places you at the heart of major engineering programmes where your procurement expertise drives value, reduces risk, and ensures our projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest standards.
You’ll be part of a collaborative commercial and procurement function, working closely with project teams, engineering specialists and subcontractors to support the lifecycle of capital and construction activity. It’s a role where you’ll make a visible difference—both to the business and to your own professional growth—developing your experience across contract management, supplier strategy, stakeholder engagement and NEC4 commercial delivery.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver sourcing strategies that optimise value and support capex, bid activity and construction programmes.
- Conduct supplier due diligence and support the creation of technical specifications to ensure compliance and quality.
- Prepare, issue and evaluate ITTs, RFQs and RFIs to support robust supplier selection.
- Carry out bid evaluation, comparison and recommendation processes, considering full total cost of ownership.
- Draft, review, negotiate and manage contracts using the NEC4 suite, including amendments, early warnings, compensation events and extensions.
This is a full‑time, 36‑hour‑per‑week position based at Rosyth. Hybrid working patterns are available, with two days per week onsite.
Essential experience:
- Strong understanding and practical application of project management principles.
- Demonstrable experience of contract terms and conditions, including flow‑down of customer requirements.
- Proven ability to lead and support supplier negotiations.
- Ability to protect the organisation’s commercial position through effective contract management.
- Experience delivering contract and procurement activity in construction, engineering, capital procurement or manufacturing.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience of construction contract forms such as NEC4 or JCT.
- MCIPS accreditation or relevant degree (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience developing procurement strategies and delivering complex projects.
- Awareness of the RIBA Plan of Work and associated construction processes.
- Understanding of multiple construction delivery methods (Design, Design and Build, Traditional).
