Overview
As a Dockside Crane Operator, you\'ll be at the heart of operations that support the Royal Navy and wider defence sector. You\'ll play a vital role in lifting and moving critical components and equipment, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of dockside activities. Day-to-day, you\'ll operate dockside tower cranes safely and efficiently by following manufacturer guidelines. This position involves working at height and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Responsibilities
- Operate dockside tower cranes in accordance with manufacturer\'s instructions and safety protocols
- Liaise with the Crane Supervisor upon arrival and throughout operations
- Wear appropriate PPE and promote a culture of safety at all times
- Resist pressure to perform unsafe operations and uphold safety standards
- Interpret and apply information from reports and duty charts to ensure safe crane use
- This role offers the possibility of Optimised Working Patterns (OWP); if available, it involves a 4-week shift cycle with day/back shifts or day/night shifts. For more information, contact the Recruitment Team.
- Extensive experience operating cranes in an industrial or dockside environment
- Strong understanding of how wind and weather conditions affect crane operations
- Proven commitment to safe working practices
Qualifications
- CPCS Blue Card or NPORS N102 certification is essential
- Additional qualifications in slinging, forklift operation, or lift supervision are advantageous
- Security clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance
