The role involves:

  • Driving financial governance, control, and business performance across a complex and dynamic organisation.
  • Combining technical accounting expertise with strategic influence, partnering with senior leaders to strengthen financial controls, improve reporting processes, and support critical business decision-making.
  • Ensuring robust financial stewardship and operational excellence within a sector that delivers essential support to defence, engineering, and national infrastructure programmes.
  • Leading financial governance, internal controls, and compliance activities to strengthen the control environment across the business.
  • Managing internal and external audits, acting as the primary point of contact and ensuring actions are delivered effectively.
  • Reviewing month-end reporting, financial results, journals, and accounting transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Providing technical accounting guidance and support to finance teams, helping interpret financial reporting standards and requirements.
  • Driving finance transformation, process improvement, automation initiatives, and stakeholder engagement to enhance business performance.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential experience:

  • Strong technical accounting experience gained within practice, audit, or a complex commercial environment, including knowledge of financial reporting standards and IFRS 15.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and deliver high-quality outcomes within demanding deadlines.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience influencing senior leaders and working across large organisations.
  • Advanced analytical, financial modelling, and communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial information into actionable insights.
  • Demonstrable problem-solving capability, commercial awareness, adaptability, and a collaborative approach to leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Essential ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • Desirable experience supporting finance transformation, governance improvement, or audit leadership initiatives.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
