Your Role
Applies Engineering concepts and theories to deliver the development of designs, calculations and technical solutions for Babcock products and services across the Engineering Product Lifecycle. Works independently with occasional supervision, seeking guidance for complex situations. Develops learning, skills and experience within discipline/domain. Provides mentoring to others.
The role
Your expertise will directly contribute to national security and public safety, while advancing your career in a dynamic engineering environment. Day-to-day, you will be part of our Technical Authority team, supporting the design consultancy function for critical infrastructure projects. You will work on new designs, modifications, and life extension activities for control and instrumentation systems, applying design and safety processes across the full lifecycle.
- Capturing and specifying system requirements.
- Developing designs, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Writing specifications and producing maintenance and commissioning documents.
- Managing technical queries and design deviations.
- Supporting implementation phases, including manufacturing, installation, and commissioning.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience:
- Understanding of electrical control principles for control and instrumentation systems.
- Familiarity with electrical instruments and their applications.
- Awareness of regulations, legislation, and standards relevant to Control and Instrumentation engineering.
- Ability to produce and interpret Control and Instrumentation schematics and technical documentation.
- Experience following a typical design lifecycle.
Qualifications:
Minimum HNC or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a Control and Instrumentation discipline.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
