As a Painter, you'll play a vital role in the refurbishment and preparation of military vehicles and equipment that support the UK's defence capability. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your craftsmanship in a role where the quality of your work is visible on every project. You'll be part of a skilled team delivering high standards of finish and durability, helping to ensure critical assets are maintained and ready for service. Day-to-day you'll be required to:

  • Prepare surfaces for painting through masking, washing, blasting, filling, and sanding activities.
  • Apply cleaning agents and degreasers to remove contaminants and ensure surfaces are coating-ready.
  • Carry out spray painting, patch painting, and rolling activities to required quality standards.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure excellent finish, durability, and compliance with specifications.
  • Work safely and collaboratively to support the refurbishment of military vehicles and equipment.

The role is based onsite at Catterick, and the set working times are Monday to Friday, totalling 37 hours per week.

  • Experience of spray painting heavy commercial vehicles.
  • Experience preparing surfaces for coating and finishing activities.
  • Experience working to high quality and safety standards.
  • Ability to deliver consistent workmanship within agreed timescales.
  • Experience working within a workshop, manufacturing, automotive, defence, or engineering environment.

Qualifications for the Painter

  • Level 3 qualification in Paint Spraying, Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) or National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) minimum.
  • Valid UK driving licence.

Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
