The Role
As a Product Safety Lead, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will have the opportunity to establish and drive implementation of safety processes across our full suite of products and services that we support. Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for the management of the Product Safety Management System (PSMS) and providing support to project teams adherence to it as well as:
- Serving as the primary point of contact for product safety matters.
- Developing, implementing and managing the PSMS and safety artifacts, including safety case reports, safety requirement and Hazard Identification and Analysis plus awareness of Functional Hazard Assessments (FHS), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) etc.
- Collaborating with other Product Safety Leads to share insights and best practices.
- Monitoring, reviewing, and recommending improvements to Babcock’s safety measures.
- Representing Babcock at the sector Product Safety review board.
- Facilitating the Product Safety review board.
This position involves travel/working across a range of internal and customer sites, as a requirement of the role. This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential Experience of the Product Safety Lead
- A good knowledge and experience of mechanical or electrical engineering principles.
- Significant experience in risk management and the development and application of safety management policy and process.
Qualifications for the Product Safety Lead
- A degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate engineering field.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
