The Role
As a Financial Reporting Manager, you’ll act as the central authority for financial governance, audit coordination, technical accounting and controls across a large and diverse sector. Your work will directly influence senior leaders, strengthen our control environment and safeguard the accuracy and integrity of sector wide financial reporting.
Day-to-day, you’ll be:
- Leading all governance, audit and control activity, coordinating internal and external audits and owning the sector wide controls framework.
- Providing technical accounting leadership, preparing technical papers and supporting the business with complex accounting issues.
- Reviewing statutory accounts and financial outputs to ensure compliance with accounting standards and Group policies.
- Monitoring governance compliance, identifying risks, recommending solutions and ensuring senior leaders have clear visibility of control performance.
- Driving improvements in financial processes, embedding strong financial control behaviours, and supporting efficiency and consistency across business units.
This is a full time, permanent role with remote working and the requirement to attend meetings at Babcock Offices (such as Bristol or London) as needed.
Essential Experience
- Strong technical financial accounting background, ideally with exposure to long term commercial contracts.
- Significant post qualification experience in financial reporting, governance, audit or internal controls within a complex organisation.
- Ability to analyse and present financial data clearly and confidently to senior stakeholders.
- Proven success influencing senior leaders and constructively challenging decisions.
Qualifications
- A recognised professional accounting qualification (e.g., Chartered Accountant or Chartered Certified Accountant).
- Substantial post qualification experience relevant to financial reporting, governance and controls.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
