At Babcock we're working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as an Assistant Fire Safety Officer at our Devonport Royal Dockyard site.
The role involves:
- Supporting the Company Fire Officer in assessing and controlling fire risks in line with legislation and best practice.
- Carrying out fire risk assessments, inspections, audits and reviews across operational areas.
- Investigating fires, false alarms and near misses, contributing to corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- Promoting fire safety awareness, providing advice and engaging positively with staff and contractors.
- Reviewing fire safety documentation and supporting training, drills, exercises and project activity.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience:
- Experience in a fire safety, facilities, SHEQ or operational safety role within a complex or high risk environment.
- Practical experience carrying out or supporting fire risk assessments, inspections and audits.
- Experience investigating incidents, near misses or false alarms and supporting action plans.
- Proven ability to engage stakeholders at all levels to influence safe behaviours.
- Experience working with fire safety legislation, standards and best practice.
Qualifications:
- NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate (essential or working towards).
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent safety qualification - Desirable.
- Recognised Fire Risk Assessment qualification, such as IFE, FSI or equivalent - advantageous.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
