The role:

As an Air Traffic Control Trainer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Training ab-initio Royal Air Force, Royal Navy and Foreign & Commonwealth military trainees for Terminal ATC duties using the classroom and simulator facilities provided.

Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:

  • Providing Mentoring and coaching to the students
  • Producing written reports with associated gradings and narratives to reflect the trainees’ performances
  • Providing training to the standard required by the Officer Commanding Air Traffic Control Training Squadron
  • Acting in accordance with the RAF Shawbury Supervisory Care Directive
  • Deliver performance coaching maintaining and contributing to a positive learning environment which develops the confidence of all trainees

This role is full time and based onsite at RAF Shawbury. This role is a 52-week contract role.

Essential experience of the Air Traffic Control Trainer:

  • You will need previous military Terminal controlling experience
  • You will need to have previously provided training in accordance with the DCASO (Defence College of Air and Space Operations) Training Quality Manual
  • Recent experience of providing Terminal Air Traffic Services in UK airspace under the Military Aviation Authority 3000 Series Regulations
  • Recent trainer experience in an ATC training environment that is deemed acceptable to the customer

Qualifications for the Air Traffic Control Trainer:

  • Qualified in accordance with JSP 822
  • The successful candidate must be able to pass the JTc (JATCC Trainers course- Joint Air Traffic controllers course)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions. This means that your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.
