The role:

As an Access Officer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll play a vital role in maintaining the security, safety and smooth operation of one of the United Kingdom's most important naval and engineering sites. Working within our Marine Sector, you'll be at the heart of the site access process, helping to ensure that personnel, visitors and contractors can access the site efficiently while meeting strict security requirements.

Day-to-day you'll be required to:

  • Processing applications and documentation for site access and security clearances.
  • Providing a professional reception and customer service experience to personnel, visitors and contractors.
  • Administering site security access systems to support safe and secure operations.
  • Supporting compliance with Ministry of Defence contractual requirements and security procedures.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve team objectives and key performance indicators.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at HMNB Devonport.

Essential experience of the Access Officer:

  • Experience working within a customer service, reception, administration or security-related environment.
  • Demonstrable customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good information technology skills with the ability to manage administrative processes accurately.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, including handling challenging situations professionally.

Qualifications for the Access Officer:

  • GCSE English and Mathematics Grade C/Level 4 or equivalent.
  • Willingness to complete NVQ Level 2 Administration if not already held.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must hold or be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within Babcock are subject to national security clearance. This means that your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.
