The role
As a Workshop Technology Trainer, you’ll deliver hands-on technical education to the next generation of Army engineers. You’ll join a team of training professionals who use modern techniques and learning technologies to equip students with the skills they need to succeed in their trade. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to national defence and to develop your career in a focused, supportive environment. The position is based onsite at MOD Lyneham, with working hours from Monday to Friday, totaling 37 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Delivering practical training in hand skills, bench fitting, cranes, and workshop technology.
- Creating engaging teaching materials using modern learning technologies and virtual platforms.
- Supporting students throughout their learning journey, offering guidance and mentorship.
- Assisting with course design, technical administration, and equipment management.
- Continuously reviewing and updating course content to reflect technological advancements.
Essential experience
- Using measuring and calibration tools such as gauge blocks and slip gauges.
- Manufacturing and fabricating to engineering drawings.
- Skilled in hand tool fabrication.
- Strong craft and technical abilities.
- Experience in engineering bench fitting, milling, and turning.
Qualifications
- Minimum City & Guilds Part 3 or NVQ Level 3 in a relevant engineering discipline.
Security clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) and Enhanced DBS + Child Barring Service (EDBSCBL) security clearance for this role. This position may be subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions. See UK GOV.UK for details.
