The role

As a Workshop Manager, you will step into a high impact leadership role at the heart of our operational delivery. This is an opportunity to lead skilled teams, turn strategic plans into tangible results and set the standard for safety, quality and performance across the workshop. The role is based onsite at Catterick Garrison, and the set working times are Monday to Friday, totalling 37 hours per week.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Lead workshop operations to ensure production plans are delivered safely, on time and to the required quality standards.
  • Manage and develop teams across the full employee lifecycle, building a positive, inclusive and high performing culture.
  • Plan and allocate resources effectively to match capacity and capability with operational demand.
  • Monitor and improve performance using data to control costs, manage risk and drive continuous improvement.
  • Champion health and safety by challenging unsafe practices and embedding a strong safety first mindset.

Essential experience:

  • Proven experience leading and developing operational teams within a workshop, manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety management with the confidence to challenge and improve working practices.
  • Experience of production planning, scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Demonstrated ability to use performance data to manage delivery, budgets and costs.
  • Experience managing change and driving continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to Level 4 on the National Qualification Framework, such as a Higher Apprenticeship, HNC or Level 4 NVQ, or equivalent workplace experience.
  • A relevant health and safety qualification, such as IOSH, NEBOSH or British Safety Council, would be advantageous.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions. This means that your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.
