The role
As an Air Traffic Control Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safe operation of the airfield and supporting flying activities. You will deliver high‑quality Air Traffic Services, ensure that aircraft movements are managed safely and efficiently, and uphold the integrity of the airfield environment at all times. Your expertise will help ensure that all operational, contractual and regulatory requirements are met, contributing directly to safe and effective flying operations.
Day-to-day, you will be:
- Providing Air Traffic Services in line with all required regulations, standards and operational procedures.
- Supporting the Air Traffic Services Manager with safety processes, risk assessments, hazard management and continuous improvement of safety systems.
- Maintaining your professional currency and competency in accordance with the Unit Competency Scheme.
- Delivering training and on‑the‑job instruction when qualified to do so, ensuring that training standards meet the requirements of the Unit Training Plan.
- Performing duties as the Duty Air Traffic Control Officer when required and supporting additional tasks essential to airfield operations.
This is a full‑time, onsite role, working forty hours per week. Working patterns may vary, including weekend work, and may adjust to align with customer requirements.
Essential experience of the Air Traffic Control Officer:
- Experience mentoring and training new personnel within an Air Traffic Services environment.
- Experience gathering, processing and communicating meteorological information accurately and within required time limits.
- Experience completing tasks within flight planning environments, including producing Notices to Airmen, recording flight activities and assisting personnel with chart preparation.
Qualifications for the Air Traffic Control Officer:
- Experience within an Air Traffic Control environment.
- Competence using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Full valid United Kingdom driving licence.
- Meteorological Observer experience is desirable.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) / Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) security clearance for this role.
