The role

As a Weapons Engineering Instructor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be essential in delivering training to Royal Navy personnel, ensuring they are competent and ready to operate and maintain weapon handling systems safely and effectively across submarine platforms.

Day-to-day, you’ll provide training delivery, subject matter expertise and assessment support to the Weapons Engineering team. You’ll also support continuous improvement and maintain technical compliance with Babcock’s safety and assurance standards.

  • Deliver classroom and simulator-based training to Royal Navy personnel, primarily focused on Astute Class submarines
  • Provide subject matter expertise in support of training design and review
  • Support governance through reporting, documentation, and assurance
  • Liaise with stakeholders and act as a technical point of contact for training queries
  • Maintain safe systems of work, ensuring compliance with internal and external policies

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based onsite at HMNB Clyde, Monday to Thursday (8:00–16:30) and Friday (8:00–13:00).

Essential experience

  • Sound knowledge of submarine Tactical Weapons Engineering systems.
  • Experience in Weapons Handling operations.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Weapons System Board – Competent User Level 3 (CU3) certification

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
