The role involves delivering innovative engineering solutions that support the UK’s clean energy ambitions, national security, and major nuclear programmes. You’ll contribute to complex, high‑impact design projects throughout the full design lifecycle — from concept development to final in‑service support. Your technical expertise, creativity and problem‑solving will directly influence project success while supporting your professional growth in one of the most advanced engineering environments in the UK.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Producing high‑quality engineering drawings throughout the design lifecycle in line with ISO standards.
- Working collaboratively with engineering, production and project teams to ensure alignment and design integrity.
- Maintaining design and project documentation, including updates to "as‑built" and datum packs.
- Supporting design reviews, resolving technical queries, and contributing to innovative engineering solutions.
- Assisting senior designers with estimates, continuous improvement initiatives and project support tasks.
This is a full‑time role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based at Warrington or Preston, with flexible working arrangements available.
Essential experience includes:
- Understanding of general engineering drawing practice.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on accuracy and detail.
Qualifications:
- ONC / HNC / HND or BTEC National Certificate / Diploma (or equivalent), or
- A relevant engineering apprenticeship in mechanical or design disciplines.
Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
