The role
As a Fleet Operations Assistant, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be responsible for supporting the daily operation of the MOD Lyneham White Fleet transport service, primarily through back‑office administration.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities:
- Allocate vehicles to White Fleet task requests and manage scheduling
- Process hire and fleet booking requests efficiently
- Support short‑notice planning and incident response coordination
- Maintain accurate daily records of driver activities
- Update fleet inventories, contact lists, and fuel card records regularly
This role is full time working 40 hours per week and is based on site at Lyneham, Wiltshire.
Essential experience:
- Experience in transport, fleet, or travel operations (desirable)
- Strong verbal communication and customer service skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Familiarity with the MOD Clarity system (desirable)
Qualifications:
- Category B UK Driving Licence – Required for standard vehicle operation (Essential)
- Category D UK Driving Licence – Preferred for operating passenger‑carrying vehicles (Desirable)
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
