The role:
As a Senior Submarine Technical Engineer, you’ll have a unique role that makes a real impact. You will influence the design of systems, equipment, material selection, and layout decisions, enhancing efficiency, reliability, and innovation to ensure the Royal Navy’s future submarines remain at the forefront of naval engineering. You will collaborate closely with Designers, Engineers, Build Operations, and Supply Chain Specialists, applying your expertise to advance underwater defence technology.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Design team and engaging SMEs for through-life queries.
- Collaborating across Integrated Product Support (IPS) elements to ensure efficient submarine development.
- Generating supportability evidence and identifying availability risks.
- Conducting initial evaluations to optimise submarine capability.
This is a full-time role, 35 hours per week, with hybrid working arrangements (2 days in-office, 3 days remote).
Essential Experience:
- Submarine maintenance expertise, including project delivery in waterfront settings, production planning, commissioning, and system set-to-work.
- Deep understanding of nuclear fleet maintenance, product safety, and assurance.
- Strong stakeholder management and effective communication skills to influence strategic design improvements.
- Experience in multi-discipline teamwork and managing stakeholder demands across submarine lifecycle.
- Familiarity with industrial partner operations and ensuring seamless integration.
Qualifications:
- Ideally HND/Foundation Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline, supplemented by relevant experience.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be a UK national able to obtain and maintain SC security clearance. Many roles are subject to national security and trade restrictions, which may affect eligibility based on nationality or residency.
