Role and responsibilities
The role
- As a Pensions Team Leader, you’ll lead a dedicated team managing two in-house defined benefit pension schemes.
- You’ll ensure compliance, improve processes, and deliver exceptional service to our members.
- You’ll have the opportunity to influence change, develop your leadership skills, and contribute to a business that supports national security and infrastructure.
- Oversee the daily operations of the pensions administration team, ensuring workloads are balanced and service levels are met.
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and support to team members, including performance reviews and development plans.
- Ensure all administration activities comply with scheme rules, pensions legislation, and internal policies.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and member experience.
- Act as the first point of escalation for complex queries.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Friday and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience
- Proven experience administering defined benefit pension schemes.
- Previous people management experience, including coaching and workload planning.
- Strong working knowledge of pension legislation and relevant tax rules.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Effective communication skills.
Qualifications

It would be advantageous if you hold a PMI or equivalent pensions qualification, but this is not essential.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Some positions may be subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
