The role:
As a Quantity Surveyor, you’ll provide professional quantity surveying and commercial support across projects within our Nuclear Defence Support programme. Working closely with project managers, engineers, suppliers and clients, you’ll support robust governance, effective cost control and sound commercial decision‑making throughout the project lifecycle. This is an exciting opportunity to build your experience in a highly regulated, technically complex environment where accuracy, integrity and collaboration matter. You’ll gain exposure to large‑scale engineering and construction programmes, strengthen your NEC contract expertise and develop your career within one of the UK’s most strategically important sectors.
Responsibilities:
- Providing commercial and quantity surveying support across bids, contracts and live projects
- Managing change, compensation events, valuations and contractual notices
- Supporting project managers with cost control, forecasting and commercial reporting
- Ensuring contract compliance and effective flow‑down of terms to the supply chain
- Developing strong relationships with internal stakeholders, clients and subcontractors
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite.
Essential experience of the Quantity Surveyor:
- Relevant experience working in a Quantity Surveying or commercial role
- Good understanding of commercial administration within engineering or construction environments
- Experience supporting project commercial strategy on complex contracts
- Familiarity with NEC3 or NEC4 contracts is advantageous
- Proven ability to manage relationships and deliver against agreed objectives
Qualifications for the Quantity Surveyor:
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Building Services Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience
- Working toward or membership of a relevant professional body would be advantageous
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
