The role

As a Technical Information Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of projects that support the Royal Navy and other defence clients. This role offers the chance to work on complex and varied engineering projects, ensuring critical technical information is managed and maintained to the highest standards. Your work will directly contribute to national security and help shape a safer future, while advancing your own career in a dynamic and innovative environment.

Day-to-day, you’ll provide a repository of auditable records of the development, construction, inspection, maintenance and disposal of assets. The information held in the Technical Information Centre is made available to all of Babcock and provides technical advice.

  • Maintain and manage classified technical documentation for ships, submarines and weapons systems.
  • Analyse technical queries and provide accurate, professional responses to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support Project Managers in assessing customer requirements and scheduling deliverables.
  • Provide rapid technical support to production teams.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and classification standards across all documentation.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential Experience Of The Technical Information Engineer

  • Knowledge of classification and regulatory requirements within the defence industry.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work proactively to deliver on time, cost and quality targets.
  • Experience analysing and developing technical requirements aligned with engineering principles.
  • Strong IT skills and ability to learn new systems quickly.

Qualifications For The Technical Information Engineer

  • ONC or apprenticeship (or equivalent experience) in an engineering discipline, ideally within a design or marine environment or substantial experience within a design environment.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
